First planted in 1984, the grapes were sold to neighboring Long Island Wine Growers until the winery was built in 1996. Then called Laurel Lake Vineyards, the winery quickly became a thriving member of the North Fork wine community. Under the careful tutelage of winemaker Juan Sepulveda, who has stayed on as head winemaker for Ev&Em, the winery grew and flourished. Purchased by Dan Abrams in 2020, the name was changed to Ev&Em Vineyards in honor of his children, Everett and Emilia. In 2021, the tasting room and wine making facilities were renovated with the goal in mind of producing world-class wines that Dan and his managing partner Vanessa Price believe Long Island is capable of achieving. Upon his first visit to the winery, Dan immediately fell in love with the location, natural beauty, and raw quality of the estate. Inspired by the potential of Long Island Wine Country, Dan is impassioned to bring his beloved home state’s wines to wine-lovers across the country and around the world.
Our 40-acre property was originally planted to 100% Chardonnay. Over the past four decades, the plantings have expanded to include a diverse array of classic French varietals for red, rosé, and white wine. With over 20 acres currently under vine, some of our vines are now 40 years old, providing concentrated and elegant fruit to make some of the finest wines Long Island has to offer. With an immediate pledge under new ownership to begin working towards certified sustainability, the vineyard is now farmed adhering strictly to sustainable practices.
